1 June
|
MOODY & SANKEY SPECTACULAR, Auchaber Church, (Forgue), 3.00pm It will be an afternoon of singing destined to “lift the roof” as the classic Victorian revivalist hymns of Moody & Sankey come to life. Moody and Sankey was the evangelical duo of Ira David Sankey and Dwight Lyman Moody, who travelled the US and the UK beginning in 1871. Their fundamentalist revival meetings were held in churches, tents, barns, grange halls, fields, or wherever their songs and preaching could call people to God. Their songs carried simple tunes, catchy refrains and easily related from the Campground meeting to Bible Sunday School. Some of the most famous songs remain ‘When the Roll is Called Up Yonder’ ‘Blessed Redeemer’ and ‘Shall We Gather at the River’ - a powerful hymn that led a generation of American pioneers to face wilderness and Indians to open the West. For a fabulous history of Moody & Sankey click HERE. For more information about the Moody & Sankey Spectacular click HERE or call 01464 871462.
